25th November 2017, Rome (IT)
Following the First Italian Citizen Science conference, the ECOPOTENTIAL Workshop on Citizen Science in Protected Areas has taken place in Roma (Italy) on the 22nd of November 2017. The workshop has been supported by EUROPARC Federation, the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC). The workshop aimed at exploring how citizen science can enhance environmental monitoring in protected areas and built the foundation for a practical guide on why and how to establish citizen science projects in protected areas in Europe and what to consider at all stages of running citizen science in protected areas. The workshop provided opportunities to establish networks between protected area managers, environmental NGO’s representatives and researchers throughout European protected areas.
